Palm leaf dishes
Many people ask us how palm leaf dishes are made. Why are they so respectful of the environment?
We summarize a little what is the natural, renewable and simple process behind these dishes:
1. The pods (casings or covers) just fallen from the palms are collected. These leaves are in no case removed from the trees (much less the trees are cut), but naturally the trees drop their old leaves and these are collected for later use.
2.- Each sheet is rinsed with water to remove any dirt that could lodge. Afterwards, they are washed by hand with a natural mixture of water and turmeric. The sheets are rinsed a third time.
3. Once clean, the leaves of the palm are dried naturally in the air.
4.- The palm leaves are stretched and crushed by hand. In the case of different profiles, round, square and hexagonal plates are molded using a heated press.
5. Once cleaned and cut, each dish is dried in the sun and packaged in groups of different sizes for sale.
In addition to this eco-friendly production method, these palm leaf leaf dishes are also completely biodegradable and compostable (after all, they are literally leaves), which makes them quite possibly the most environmentally friendly dishes available.
So the next time you need dishes for a small or large event, leave the flimsy paper or the plastic plates unsophisticated and switch to the palm dish! . That in addition to ecological remain precious!
